The Pre-Raphaelites

The Pre-Raphaelites Brotherhood where formed in 1848 in John
Millais’ parents’ house. John Everett Millais and William Holman Hunt both attended
the Royal Academy of Arts. The Royal Academy of Arts is an independent art
Institution founded in London in the 18th Century. Both Hunt and
Millais went to the same sketching club, which the club was called Cyclographic
Club. The meeting point of Rossetti with Hunt was after Rossetti saw Hunt’s
painting “The Eve of St.Agnes,” the painting was named after the Keat poem
which had the same name. Rossetti was very meaningful between paintings and
poems, him being a poet and a painter. Right after Millais, Hunt and Rossetti
formed the Pre-Raphaelites, four other members wanted to join the brotherhood,
them being William Michael Rossetti, James Collinson, Frederic George Stephens
and Thomas Woolner, being there were seven in all in the brotherhood.
